Come Googlebot – come – read, read, read.

A couple things today.

First off an update on the SchoolClick.com affiliate program.

Things are looking up – we have now generated as many leads this month – only half way through – as we did in all of March.  As we add new affiliates each day we have a great chance to really blow away our previous results.  Cool.   Having trouble making money from your education site – look me up.

Marketer to marketer…..

Its interesting that most blogs on the net – according to Sonia are written about marketing.  “Marketing” (particularly Internet marketing) seems to be the subject of about 90% of blogs. It’s the single most common topic for lenses on Squidoo. And it’s a generally accepted synonym for lies, half-truths and general beep. A lot of people hate marketing without knowing exactly what it is.

Why is this – well, being in marketing I personally have seen and felt the power of good marketing – that’s how you get people to buy your product, come to your site, your blog, your event, etc.  So….marketers make their own marketing campaigns at the same time they are willing to read others.  I admit much of the reason I am writing this site is that I am marketing for myself, my company, and my likes – interests and beliefs.  Why not – if I can do it I should.  Click Here to learn more about me ;)   Notice the call to action and the straight forward approach.

One more thing.  I read a lot of blogs.  Today it seemed that every blog I ran across was page after page after page.  What’s up with that?  Seth is the only one that seemed to keep it short today – and that is because he is travelling – and being the best marketer in the world he doesn’t have to say a whole lot.

Speaking of short messaging – how’s this – I love it! Just hope he doesn’t get kicked out of the hotel….or the city.

Generally, we all know that if we keep something short and sweet – I am not good at this – then our reader is more likely to stay focused, get to the end and so what we want them to do – buy, cry, etc.

So why the long posts?  I thinks its mostly to satisfy the bloggers own needs – to be able to read their own wisdom, to think out loud, to plan etc. BUT, being of somewhat of an SEO background I have also noticed that SEO plays heavily into the text.  The more they write about their audience, topic, and product – the more likely it is that Google will notice them.  Regardless  (or irregardless – as so many say incorrectly) of how many readers come to their site – the Googlebot will surely come – and he will like it no matter what they say.

Blogging, Marketers and Google – they all go hand in hand.

Come Googlebot come – read, read, read.
