Crooked Affiliates

By cougarmark

I keep up with many affiliate marketing blogs written from all over the world.  Many of them frequently speak of niche affiliate marketing – keyword selection – and PPC search strategies and programs.

Very rarely do you see an article about being involved in ‘affiliate marketing’ actually marketing some product for a company and not just creating another one page spammy site, another quick search campaign or another social media affiliate strategy.

The affiliates I have always looked for and tried to be in my own strategy is the one who companies want to join their programs.  You know it when you see it.  Customers know it when they see it too.

When you create a page based on experience, product preference, or even just to make some money people see right through you when its junk.  Sure, you’re going to make some money – if you create enough spam you’re bound to get 3 or 4 dollars a day times 100s sites and you are going to be rich and famous among some affiliate crowds.  That’s not the type of affiliate I want to be or that I want to work with.

So you earn several million a year doing this – so what.  Drug lords also earn millions yet I don’t want to be one – not even tempted.

Today on the radio Amanda of KSL radio said that she opened some mail which appeared to be about the federal tax stimulus checks we are now receiving.  It was actually a gimmick and she was nearly tricked into making a call and signing up for whatever it was to get the process complete and get her check.  Was it one of my affiliates that came up with that scheme?  Couldn’t we consider that to be offline spam?  I think so.

As a super affiliate with hundreds of sites are you ‘tricking’ people in to clicking – into signing up – into buying?  Are you the reason Google click fraud abounds?  If so – get a life.  Change you tactics – make it real.  There is nothing wrong with driving a sale to a company.  Marketing is how sales happen.  I joined Vonage at the very beginning of their company – I promote to everyone who asks me about my VoIP service.  I had to change a month or so ago since I got a good bundled rate from Comcast but there is no trickery here – I like Vonage.  There is not need to create a 5 minute junkie spammy site. I can create a real site telling of the real value I got from Vonage.

Get real spammy affiliates – your money means only one thing.  You’re crooked.
