Archuletta, Twitter, Gas, Crispy Bacon – Social Media

By cougarmark

David Archuletta back in Utah

Update on many things – all tied to the internet, social media, web 2.0 etc.

Archuleta – Watch for a new post soon – I have been working on something and hope to have it soon.

Crispy Bacon.  – I have not really had a chance to go to Taco Bell.  My wife and I stayed and a bed and breakfast for mother’s day and its just been a very busy past few days.

I still plan on going to Taco Bell – hopefully today but I carpooled so I will have to see if I can find a ride.  Crispy Bacon – hey, it’s a pet peeve of mine – why not measure the results here for anyone who wants to to see.  If they’re going to promise or market something to us – let’s make sure they deliver.

Gas Prices – I have been reviewing the news, the comments on my video and on this site and overall though people are up in arms over the high price of gas – most agree that the issues is not really a fight we need to form in the way of a boycott or some other drastic measure instead it is an overall individual adaptation to the way we live life.

I know carpool along with 3 others.  Many now commute.  I heard this morning that LA commuters are saving time on their commute as there are fewer cars out on the road.

In general people who need to cut back are – people who driver cars that use too much gas are weighing their options.  The price itself is the driver of change.  Change is happening and people are adjusting.  I still argue that there are many poor who are trapped by the prices – in rural communities – the elderly etc.  I would like to see everyone out and about finding those who need help to adjust and helping to make the changes in their lives that need to happen.

Social Networking – I have been heavily involved in Web 2.0 and its advances and have been experimenting and ready a ton about it.  I am now listed with my gas price video as the no. 3 most commented video ever.  That’s pretty good but as I review I wonder what would have happened through another site?  I think getting on CNNs homepage is great – but to be honest it did not really get the exposure I though that that it would with only 5000 or so views.

Overall messaging and intent of my blog

My blog is a place for me to vent, advise, consult, review and announce.  In general I love the news, pr, social networking, affiliate marketing etc.  Its amazing how much these play into our normal lives.  David Archuletta – how does social media affect his chance of winning idol.  Can I play in on that – watch and see.

Gas prices – Social Media – can I have a factor in determining the price we pay at the pump?  Can I help lower the price – or do I have to instead just help people adjust the the highest prices ever?

Affiliate Marketing – my job, how does social media affect it?  Can I get more affiliates on board through my blog? (Yes, I already have) How many more can I add to my program, schoolclick.com, and are those the type of affiliates I am looking for?

Other – As stated this is my place to write and think.

Personal Branding – A really big deal right now – do we do personal branding – business branding or both?

Viral Marketing – which platform do you use to combine it with social media?

Linked In – still the best in my mind.  Very good people there – business network only – still more to learn.

I hope to spend more time on different stories/posts this week.

Results – where do my biggest results come from.  So far – hot topics – like gas prices.  I got much more traffic than normal to the blog when talking about gas prices than any other topic – why?  From Where?  Where can I have even more impact and join in on the national discussion even more.

Obviously not Twitter.  I tried that.  I don’t like it – see old post – yet, I tried to start a twitter me gas prices campaign – nothing.  All I get on twitter is chatter.  Chatter being similar to the static you see on a TV that’s now working correctly.  Twitter me nothing – that’s all I see – a whole bunch of nonsense and maybe 1 in 100 tweets interests me.
